I had at&t digital life installed on 4/19/14. Took about 8hrs to install. The techs were good but not all that versed in the entire system yet. The system itself could be very promising, but at this point leaves a lot to be desired. Here are the pros and cons of the system;
Pros;
Full featured system with only room for improvement over time.
Home automation features, various options
cellular broadband with wifi back up
Smart phone/ tablet apps
Cons;
Key pad is serious flawed - chimes are so silent you have to be next to the keypad to hear it
Audible siren not very loud, need two sirens to be heard on second floor
App for smart phones lacks security, the system can be armed and disarmed without a pin code
App lacks information on alerts, you just get a notification of an event, but it doesn't tell you what the event was.
Monitoring fee is high when you add feature sets, could end up costing in the $70.00 range.
Bottom Line;
Until the system proves to be more reliable and the keypad and siren problems are addressed, I would stay away from digital life. If your a Costco member, check out the Link Security System. It's a robust system with advanced home automation and the top monitoring plan is only $34.99 a month. Upfront equipment cost is only around $400.00 for a pretty well equipped system, and it too uses cellular and wifi broadband.
I will be having digital life removed at this time and go with Link.
In summary, I would not recommend AT&T Digital Life to a friend.
